Thanks, but not the gift for me

OK, I know it's cool to employ older media for music but the cassette tape might be the one format I don't actually miss. All that sonic degradation, the wow, and the not so joyful use of pencils to wind stuck wheels or unravel bent tape. Not to mention, I am not even sure I have a working player among my old components. But you do you. If it appeals, get a load of this
Available now at the Verve store for $14.98. Sadly, not in time for Xmas.

An upgraded Uberlight

I have the original model marketed by Reliable to audiophiles which still provides excellent service by my turntable. This new model is a drool-worthy improvement in looks, and includes a remote control, but comes at a price ($399)

Specs: Customizable Precision: Over 100 lighting combinations with six brightness levels, three color temperatures, and six touch zones for the perfect ambiance. Engineered for Performance: Durable cast aluminum build, 500 lumens with a 90+ CRI, 50,000-hour lifespan, and whisper-quiet operation (<20dB). Ultimate Flexibility: 360° swivel, 30° tilt, rechargeable remote with LED flashlight, USB-C power, universal plug, and multiple mounting options.

“The Frame is more than just a light; it’s a companion for audiophiles on their musical journey,” said Robert Kahn, President of Teliable Corp. “From the touch panel that provides precise illumination to the beautiful aesthetics that elevate your listening space, every detail is designed to enhance the experience of discovering and enjoying music.” True enough perhaps, but more practically speaking, the Reliable lights offer a forensic way of exmaining your vinyl and can reveal spots/dust in an almost clinical manner, which of course gives you even more to obsess over. No, I did not receive sample to review, sadly, but am fairly confident this is a buy-once, last for years purchase if the original model is any guide.

Availability The UberLight® Frame is available Feb 18, 2025 through Reliable Corporation’s UberLight® website and select retailers. https://www.youtube.com/@uberlight

New from Sunnyside: Gravity Unplugged

I get regular reminders from Sunnyside records of upcoming releases. These ca include some fom established artists seeking a more controllable outlet, and some new artists who might otherwise fly under the rainbow. This one looks and sounds (from the free track you can hear) quite interesting. Have never had a problem with an order either.
